Is there a fee to pay to enter Nicaragua?
All passengers who enter the country must pay a tax fee of the Tourist Card to the Nicaraguan Institute of Tourism. This tax fee has a value of US$ 5.00 dollars, but all citizens who belong to the CA-4 are excluded from this tax fee (All Guatemalans, Salvadorians, Hondurans and Nicaraguans). The fee must be paid in dollars and in cash.
What is the customs paperwork that all passengers must fulfill before entering or leaving Nicaragua?
Passengers age 18 or bellow requires an exit visa.
If the passenger is of a foreign nationality but has residency in Nicaragua, Migration Central will require their exit visa, with a fee of US$ 70.00 cordobas
Migration Central will be in charge of extending exit visa to minors under age. The requisites are: Birth Certificate, A passport with at least 6 months of validity, Legal Permission previously authorized and signed by parents/legal guardians of the minor.
The citizens within the Central American area who require visa are: Costa Rica; of a value of US$ 20.00 dollars, and Panama; of a value of US$ 5.00 dollars. These fees are to be paid in dollars, only.
The citizens who belong to the CA-4 (Guatemalans, Salvadorians, Hondurans and Nicaraguans) are able to enter the country by just presenting their identification cards.

Rate for affiliated credit cards: Promotion US$ 15.00 plus IVA. Bar service: 2 drinks and 1 snack dish/plate.
Rate for minors: US$10.00 dollars plus 15% IVA per passenger. It applies to all minors between the ages of 2 and 12, with a privilege of 1 drink and 1 snack plate/dish. Document proceedings and luggage with Migration and Customs.
Infant Rate: US$ 5.00 dollars plus 15% IVA per passenger. It applies to all infants between the ages of 0 and 2. The service includes document proceedings.

Seaports
Nicaragua has 6 seaports and 1 lacustrine port. In the Pacific Region, there are 3 ports, where one of them is the largest one in the country; the other 3 are located in the Atlantic Region and the lacustrine port is located in Lake Nicaragua.

Momentarily, there is a project going on about a construction of a dry channel that will permit communication between the ports in the Pacific and Atlantic Region by the means of a train.

Another port in the Atlantic region is El Rama, located in the South Autonomy Region of the Atlantic, 292 Km. away from Managua City. Geographically located on latitude 12 and longitude 84.
The Puerto Cabezas Dock is located in the city with the same name in the North Autonomic Region of the Atlantic.
The lacustrine port of Nicaragua is located in Granada City, one of the most beautiful colonial cities in Latin America, 45 Km. from Managua City.
This port usually gives cargo and passenger service, to those people who are from the departments of Rio San Juan, Rivas and from Ometepe Island.
